Privacy Policy

Summary

GreaseTrail was built to help you keep track of maintenance on your vehicle, not to collect data about you. There's no account, nothing is sent to a server, and there's no analytics or advertising software inside the app.

What data we collect

GreaseTrail does not collect personal data. The app never asks for your name, email address, location, or any other identifying information, and it has no login or account system.

The data you enter to use the app — such as vehicle details, mileage, maintenance records, and notes — is used only to power the app's functionality. We have no access to it and never receive it.

• No advertising identifiers

Where your data lives

Everything you enter into GreaseTrail is stored locally on your device. There is no GreaseTrail server or cloud database that this data is sent to. If you delete the app, its data is deleted from your device as well.

If you use your own device backup (for example via iCloud), that backup may also include the app's data. That happens entirely through your device's operating system, not through GreaseTrail.

GreaseTrail also lets you export your data as a JSON backup, a CSV log, or a PDF report, and import a file back in. These exports are created on your device and only leave it if you choose to save, share, or send the file yourself — GreaseTrail itself never uploads or transmits them anywhere.

Third parties

GreaseTrail does not share data with third parties, because no data is collected or transmitted to share in the first place. The app does not use any external advertising networks, analytics services, or tracking libraries.

Children

Because GreaseTrail does not collect personal data from any user, no separate age verification or parental consent is required to use the app.

Your rights

Since all of your data lives locally on your own device, you're always in full control: you can edit or delete data within the app, or wipe everything at once by deleting the app. There's no action required on our part to handle access, correction, or deletion requests, because we don't retain anything to adjust.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, we'll publish the updated version on this page with a new date at the top. Significant changes that affect how the app works will also be explained in the app's release notes.
